How a broker's record is built, what we check it against, and how it gets fixed when it is wrong.

Each broker's own published material - the account comparison, the fee schedule, the legal pages - recorded with the date it was compiled. Licences are checked against the regulator's public register where one exists, and recorded with the number the register uses rather than the one the marketing page paraphrases.
The field says so rather than being left blank or filled with a plausible guess. That matters most for the protections - compensation schemes and negative balance protection - where an absence is itself the finding.
Every broker is scored on the same six measures in the same way, set out on how we rate. Scores move when the underlying facts move, not on a schedule and not on request.
Some brokers pay us a commission when a reader opens an account through our link. It is disclosed in full on how we make money, and it does not buy a rating or a position.
